Procrastination and motivation….

I have not posted for more than a month – the reason is as usual procrastination and my never-ending struggle with motivation! I believe that everyone has these problems, but sometimes I feel that I am particularly bad. My son is difficult to motivate in terms of doing his school work. Normal I suppose, but he really has absolutely no interest in it. I find myself getting really tense with him and this causes a lot of friction. Now, the other day, I find myself dithering and finding all sorts of other things that need to be done instead of sitting down and working on my blog posts. I am no different to my son! How can I get upset when he won’t study? So, I have determined to continue giving him all the help I can, but I am no longer going to pressure him into studying. This is going to have to come from within him, he has to realise that he and only he can do the work. There is a lesson in this for me!
I was lent a book called “Double Your Income Doing What You Love” by Raymond Aaron. In the introduction to the book by Robin Yearsley he says “In around 2 hours the whole book is a kind of self-diagnostic device for getting you thinking and acting more towards what you deliberately want to achieve in your life – hooked to the concept of, “if you do what you really love and excel at (which might be different) then it is possible to double your income”. As Confucius said: “Give a man a job he loves, and he will never work a day in his life.” Interesting that, so true! I have been working with this book and will tell you whether or not it worked for me. If you would like to know more about Raymond Aaron you can visit him here http://raymondaaron.com.
While I was working through Raymond’s book I found Leo Babauta, his blog is one of the Top 100 in the world and has 185,000 readers, you will find him here http://zenhabits.net go there, there is lots of good stuff.
OK I am working my way through this bad phase and will continue with my search for the best network marketing product…..
Dithering in the search for the best Network Marketing product…

I have been dithering in my search for the best Network Marketing product, for reasons that I will explain in my next blog. However, I have been reading a lot. Have you ever heard of or read anything by Carlos Castaneda? He is a whacko multiple personality with an Indian friend, Don Juan. Now Don Juan, wanted to motivate Carlos so that each act he performed would be a full representation of all the potential that was available to him, by using all the personal power that he had available to him at any moment in time.
Specifically, what Don Juan told Carlos was “At any moment that you find yourself hesitating, or if at any moment you find yourself putting off until tomorrow something that you could do today, then all you need to do is glance over your left shoulder and there will be a fleeting shadow. That shadow represents your death, and at any moment it might step forward, place its hand on your shoulder and take you. So that the act that you are presently engaged in might be your very last act and therefore fully representative of you as your last act on this planet.”
This is a bit heavy, but think about it.
When you hesitate, you are acting as though you are immortal. And you, ladies and gentlemen, are not. Whatever it is you are going to do, DO IT NOW and to the best of your ability!
Till next time …..
More on what to look for in a Network Marketing Model/Product…
Posted on 17 June 2010 | No responses
So on with the search. We are getting closer to knowing what we are looking for in a product. Statistics tell us that not everyone is a network marketer, we therefore need to satisfy these people with the product and also cater to those that are marketers. And remember, every single network marketing business that is not people and relationship driven will go bust, get a good product or service to sell and then help other people to reach their dreams. Remember what Zig Ziglar said “You can have everything in life you want, if you help other people get what they want.”
This is what you need to consider when looking for a product:-
But first, remember, this is all about people, and building relationships!
OK lets go!
a) Is the product and company internet based? It must be global, this is the new marketplace!
b) Is the product duplicable? i.e. Can you teach people to do this?
c) What sort of compensation plan does it have? A few pointers here:-
- Is there a limit to the number of levels below you? If there is, walk away from it, don’t get seduced by the nonsense of building wide. You cannot build relationships, real relationships, with more than five people! Remember you are their mentor and are helping them build relationships as well.
- Does the compensation change with time? Some compensation plans change after the first year. i.e. In the second year you only receive 15% of the commission that you received in the first year. You cannot build long-lasting residual income this way, you are continually having to sell, sell, sell, recruit, recruit etc. Walk away from these.
- Does the compensation plan require a certain number of people per level for you to earn? If it does, walk!
d) Can you place personally sponsored people where you want in your down-line?
e) Will the compensation plan work for the masses? i.e. Will it work for the average part-timers – people that just want to use the product and maybe introduce their friends to it.
Now that we have defined what we are looking for, we start looking for a company that has such a product…
